Bands - The Starlites

The Album (cover) The Albun (rear)

For almost 2 years, from 1976 - 1978, I played trumpet and bass guitar with Laverne & the Starlites.

We played just about every weekend in large ballrooms throughout Minnesota.

Recorded at Tetrasonics Studio, St. Cloud, MN in 1978.

This was my first ever paying gig. In fact, I think I probably made more playing with the Starlites than any subsequent band. Not that it was a lot ($20 a night), but most of the bands that followed paid nothing.

Laverne Bzdok: banjo, rhythm guitar, piano, lead vocals

Andy Stangler: concertina, bass

Jay O'Donnel: percussion

Al Ghylin: lead guitar, bass

Ken Hoppe: trumpet, electric piano
